The Exo + Spicule Ritual

Weekly renewal: exosomes carried by spicules, for the evenings skin is ready for more.

Two ideas meet in this ritual. One opens the door; the other walks through it.

Spicules are microscopic mineral needles, harvested from freshwater sponge and milled into a powder so fine it feels like nothing at all. Pressed onto the skin they open countless tiny channels through the outermost layer — lifting away dulled surface cells and letting what follows travel further than it otherwise could. A gentler, more gradual cousin of resurfacing.

Exosomes are what travels. Nano-sized vesicles carried in the plant extracts we use, they act as messengers between cells and are studied for their part in renewal, comfort and the appearance of firmness. On their own they are a good ingredient. Behind spicules, they are in the right place.

This ritual is weekly, not daily. It is renewal, and renewal needs the days in between as much as it needs the night itself.

The Concentrated Form

Skin Boosters

Plant exosomes carried on hydrolysed sponge spicules, in a shot meant to be used with intent. Two strengths — 2K and 30K, named for how much spicule each carries — so the intensity is chosen rather than endured. Begin with the lower one, always.

Renewal, Balanced

Lacto Spicule

Renewal with a postbiotic accent. Lactobacillus ferment — a gentle by-product of fermentation, not a live culture — is studied for its support of the skin’s own microbiome and barrier, which makes this the choice for skin that wants refinement without losing its balance.

Renewal, Calmed

Cica Spicule

The same renewal, calmed. Centella asiatica — cica — brings asiaticoside and madecassoside, long used in Asian herbal traditions to settle redness and support the barrier. For skin that reacts easily and would still like the resurfacing step, this is the way to take it.

How to keep this ritual

Two or three evenings a week, to begin. Never more at first, and never two nights running. Spicules keep working after they are applied; give the skin its days off.

Clean, dry skin. Cleanse, pat properly dry, then press a small amount in with the flats of the fingers. Do not rub, and do not go near the eye area.

A light tingle is the point. A mild prickling as it settles means the spicules are doing their work. Lasting stinging, burning or redness means the dose was too much — rinse, wait a week, and use less.

Always finish with a cream, and wear sunscreen the following day. Freshly renewed skin deserves protecting more, not less.

Patch test before the first use. Skip this ritual while skin is broken, sunburnt, freshly treated in clinic, or if you are using prescription retinoids — and ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are pregnant or unsure.
